How to Extend Your Bali Visa in 2026 — Step by Step

Last updated: May 2026 · by Bali Visa Trusted

To extend your Bali visa in 2026, apply before it expires. The VOA/eVOA can be extended once (+30 days, IDR 500,000), the B211A/C1 visit visa can be extended in-country, and a KITAS is renewed annually. Since May 2025, every extension requires an in-person biometric appointment at a Bali immigration office.

Last updated: 2026. The in-person biometric requirement (since May 2025) and the IDR 500,000 VOA extension fee are based on Direktorat Jenderal Imigrasi sources (imigrasi.go.id{rel=”nofollow” target=”_blank”}). Confirm the current B211A/C1 extension limit with our team before relying on it.

Which Bali Visas Can Be Extended?

Most Indonesian visas can be extended without leaving the country — extending on time is the single best way to avoid the costly trap of overstaying. The rules differ by visa type:

Visa Extendable? Extension length Max total stay In-person biometric?
VOA / eVOA Once +30 days 60 days Yes (since May 2025)
B211A / C1 visit visa In-country, more than once +30 days per extension Set by immigration Yes
Working KITAS (E23) Annual renewal 1 year Permit duration Yes
Investor KITAS (E28A) Annual / per validity 1–2 years Permit duration Yes
Retirement KITAS (E33F) Annual renewal 1 year Permit duration Yes
Family / Spouse KITAS (E31/E31A) Annual renewal 1 year Permit duration Yes
Digital Nomad (E33G) Not renewable — re-apply to continue n/a 1 year n/a

Extension rules per research and immigration sources, 2026. The B211A/C1 extension count is set by immigration and is the figure most commonly disputed online — we confirm the current limit for your case rather than overclaiming. Verify against imigrasi.go.id{rel=”nofollow” target=”_blank”}.

Three things stand out from the table. The VOA tops out at 60 days — once you have used your single 30-day extension, you cannot extend it again. The E33G Digital Nomad Visa is not renewable — it runs for one year, and to continue you re-apply rather than extend. And KITAS renewals are annual, repeating each year until you qualify for a KITAP.

The New In-Person Biometric Rule (Since May 2025)

This is the most important 2026 change to understand. Since May 2025, visa extensions in Bali require an in-person biometric appointment at an immigration office (kantor imigrasi). You — not an agent acting on your behalf — must attend to provide your photograph and fingerprints. There is no longer a fully-online route for most extensions.

What it means in practice:

  • You must be in Bali (or Indonesia) for the biometric step; it cannot be done remotely.
  • Appointments must be booked, and offices can be busy — another reason to start early.
  • An agent still does the heavy lifting — preparing and lodging your documents through the official system (molina.imigrasi.go.id{rel=”nofollow” target=”_blank”}) and booking your slot — but the biometric capture itself is yours to attend.

Juara Holding Group manages everything around the appointment: the paperwork, the submission, the booking, and clear instructions on what to bring. You simply turn up for a short biometric visit.

How to Extend Your VOA or eVOA — Step by Step

The VOA and eVOA follow the same extension process. You can extend once, for an additional 30 days, taking you to a maximum of 60 days.

  1. Start early. Begin at least 7–14 days before your initial 30 days expire — never on the final day.
  2. Prepare your documents. Passport (valid 6+ months), your current VOA/eVOA, a return/onward ticket and accommodation details. Our team checks everything first.
  3. Lodge the application. We submit your extension through the official immigration system and obtain your biometric appointment.
  4. Attend your biometric appointment. Since May 2025 you visit the immigration office in person for your photo and fingerprints. We tell you exactly what to bring and when.
  5. Collect your extended visa. It is typically issued within a few business days of the appointment. Your stay is now legal to day 60.

The VOA government extension fee is IDR 500,000 (~USD 35) — the same as the original VOA fee. After this single extension, the VOA cannot be extended again; to stay longer you switch to a B211A or convert to a KITAS.

How to Extend a B211A / C1 Visit Visa

The B211A (visa code C1) is the 60-day visit visa, and it is extendable in-country, more than once. Each extension adds another period (commonly +30 days), and like all extensions now requires the in-person biometric step.

Here is where we are deliberately careful: the exact number of B211A extensions — and the maximum total stay it allows — is set by immigration and is the most frequently misreported figure online. Some sources claim two extensions, others more. Rather than print a number that could be wrong and leave you exposed, we confirm the current limit for your specific case before you apply. The B211A also requires a sponsor/guarantor, and it is convertible to a KITAS onshore via visa conversion (alih status).

If you need a long, continuous stay, talk to us about whether repeated B211A extensions or a switch to a KITAS is the better route for your situation.

How to Extend a KITAS

A KITAS (limited-stay permit) is renewed annually rather than extended in the short-stay sense. Each year, before your permit lapses, you renew it — and the renewal also requires the in-person biometric appointment under the May 2025 rule. KITAS renewals continue year on year until you qualify for a KITAP, Indonesia’s permanent-stay permit, which runs five years and is extendable indefinitely — ending the annual cycle entirely.

One exception worth repeating: the E33G Digital Nomad Visa is not renewable. It lasts one year, and to keep living in Bali afterward you must re-apply for a fresh permit rather than renew the existing one.

Bali Visa Extension Cost 2026

Extension pricing has two parts: the government fee plus our service fee. The VOA extension government fee is fixed; KITAS renewals vary by type, so we quote those in writing.

Extension Government fee Juara Holding Group service fee
VOA / eVOA extension IDR 500,000 (~USD 35) from — contact for quote
B211A / C1 extension contact for quote from — contact for quote
KITAS renewal (per type) contact for quote from — contact for quote

VOA extension government fee per Direktorat Jenderal Imigrasi, 2026. B211A/C1 and KITAS renewal fees vary; we confirm the exact current figure in writing. We never add hidden charges — see our pricing page.

What If You’ve Already Overstayed?

If your visa has already expired, do not panic and do not ignore it. Overstaying a Bali visa costs IDR 1,000,000 per day, charged for every day past expiry — a forgotten week is IDR 7,000,000. Worse, overstaying 60 days or more is treated as a criminal offence, risking detention, deportation and a re-entry ban (blacklisting) lasting from six months up to many years. The fine must be paid before you can leave the country.

The fix is simple: extend before you expire. If you’ve left it too late, contact our Emergency Visa Help immediately — we handle overstay fines, urgent extensions and exit permits.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I extend my Bali visa on arrival (VOA)?
Yes — the VOA and eVOA can be extended once, for another 30 days, taking your total stay to 60 days. Since May 2025 this requires an in-person biometric appointment at a Bali immigration office. The government extension fee is IDR 500,000. Apply before your initial 30 days expire.

Do I have to be in Bali in person to extend my visa?
Yes, for the biometric step. Since May 2025, extensions require you to attend a Bali immigration office in person for your photograph and fingerprints. An agent prepares and submits everything and books your appointment, but you must attend the short biometric visit yourself.

How much does a Bali visa extension cost in 2026?
The VOA extension government fee is IDR 500,000 (~USD 35), plus a service fee. B211A/C1 extensions and KITAS renewals vary by type, so we quote the exact current government fee plus our service fee in writing — with no hidden charges.

How many times can I extend a B211A visit visa?
The B211A/C1 is extendable in-country more than once, but the exact number of extensions is set by immigration and is frequently misreported online. Rather than overclaim a total, we confirm the current limit for your specific case before you apply.

What happens if my visa expires before I extend it?
You overstay — which costs IDR 1,000,000 per day, with 60+ days treated as a criminal offence risking detention, deportation and a re-entry ban. Don’t wait: contact our Emergency Visa Help immediately. Extending before expiry avoids this entirely.
