Yes — but it is one of the simplest visas to arrange. The United Arab Emirates is not on Indonesia’s short visa-free list (which is mostly ASEAN neighbours), so you cannot simply walk in. Instead, Emirati passport-holders sit firmly on Indonesia’s Visa on Arrival (VOA) list. You either buy the VOA on landing at Ngurah Rai Airport or, far more smoothly, apply for the eVOA online before you leave the UAE.

The single most important point for anyone flying from the Emirates is this: Indonesian immigration looks at your passport, not your Emirates ID or residence visa. The Gulf is home to millions of expatriates, and a resident of Dubai on an Indian, Pakistani, British, Filipino or Egyptian passport is treated according to that nationality’s Bali visa rules — a UAE Golden Visa or residence permit does not change your entry category. eVOA Before You Fly from the UAE — Step by Step

We strongly recommend Emirati passport-holders apply for the eVOA online before flying rather than queuing at the airport. The process:

1. Go to the official portal — evisa.imigrasi.go.id is the only official Indonesian eVOA site. Beware of lookalike scam domains that copy the design. Apply between 90 days and 48 hours before departure.
2. Create an account and select “Visa on Arrival (B1)” — choose United Arab Emirates as your nationality.
3. Upload your documents — your UAE passport bio page (valid at least 6 months beyond arrival, with a blank page) and a passport-style photo.
4. Pay the IDR 500,000 fee with a Visa, Mastercard or JCB card. Your UAE-issued card works fine; your bank converts to dirhams at its own rate and may add a foreign-transaction fee.
5. Receive your eVOA by email as a PDF — print it or keep it on your phone. Up to five applicants can be processed in one session, which suits families travelling together from the Emirates.
6. On arrival, use the eVOA lane at Ngurah Rai, complete the All Indonesia Arrival Card, and pay the tourist levy.

On Arrival at Ngurah Rai — What UAE Travellers Need

When you land in Bali on a UAE (or your own) passport, expect these at the border:

• Passport validity: at least 6 months beyond your arrival date, with a blank page.
• Your visa: a VOA bought on arrival, or ideally a pre-approved eVOA PDF.

• Bali Tourist Levy: IDR 150,000 (~AED 34) per person, via the Love Bali platform or on arrival.
• Onward or return ticket and accommodation details.
• Proof of funds: immigration may ask for evidence of roughly USD 2,000 or equivalent — rarely checked on short holidays, but have a bank statement ready.

Extending Your Stay Beyond 30 Days

The VOA and eVOA can be extended once, adding another 30 days for a maximum of 60. The extension requires a biometrics appointment at a Bali immigration office, and the paperwork must be lodged before your current permit expires. Overstaying is expensive — the fine is IDR 1,000,000 per day — so start early. Yes, but your eligibility follows your passport, not your UAE residence. If you hold a passport on Indonesia’s VOA list, you get the same 30-day VOA/eVOA as anyone else.
