Do Saudi citizens need a visa for Bali?
Yes. Saudi Arabia is not on Indonesia’s visa-free list, so a Saudi national cannot simply land in Bali and walk through. What you are entitled to is the Visa on Arrival (VOA) — and its online twin, the eVOA — because Saudi Arabia sits on Indonesia’s visa-on-arrival eligible list of roughly 97 nationalities. That single fact makes a Bali trip straightforward: no embassy appointment in Riyadh or Jeddah, no sponsor letter, no weeks of waiting.
The VOA is a single-entry permit for tourism and short family visits. It gives you 30 days of stay for a government fee of IDR 500,000, and it can be extended once, in-country, for another 30 days — a hard ceiling of 60 days per visit. Your passport must have at least six months’ validity from the day you arrive. If your travel plans run beyond 60 days, or involve work, business, retirement or investment, the VOA is the wrong tool and you should read the long-stay section below.
eVOA before you fly: the smart route for Saudi travellers
You can buy the Visa on Arrival at a counter inside Ngurah Rai Airport, but arriving with the eVOA already approved in your inbox is the calmer choice — especially for families travelling with children or elderly parents, where nobody wants to queue at a payment desk after a long Gulf-to-Bali flight. The eVOA is applied for online, paid by international card (Visa, Mastercard or JCB), and delivered as a PDF you show on your phone.
To apply yourself, you use the official portal at evisa.imigrasi.go.id (also reachable via molina.imigrasi.go.id): passport bio-data scan, a recent photo, your onward ticket and hotel details, and the IDR 500,000 payment. It is genuinely doable alone. Where our clients hand it to us is when the portal rejects a photo, a card payment fails, the confirmation email never arrives, or the name on a statement doesn’t match a passport exactly. Staying longer than 30 days: extensions
Saudi families often build a longer summer holiday around Bali, and 30 days can run short. A VOA can be extended once for another 30 days at an Indonesian immigration office — official extension fee IDR 500,000 — taking you to 60 days total. Since May 2025 the extension requires an in-person biometric appointment, which for a first-timer usually means navigating the office and the queue yourself.

Start the extension around day 20 of your stay, not day 29 — leaving margin protects you from the overstay fine of IDR 1,000,000 per day. Long-stay options for Saudi nationals: KITAS
If Bali is becoming more than a holiday — a base for remote work, a retirement plan, a villa purchase or a company — you move off tourist visas entirely onto a KITAS limited-stay permit. The routes that fit Saudi applicants are the same as for any nationality:
- E33G Digital Nomad KITAS — one year for remote workers earning from overseas (income threshold applies).
- E33F Retirement KITAS — for applicants aged 55+ with qualifying passive income.
- E28A Investor KITAS — for shareholders and directors of an Indonesian PT PMA company.
