Can I extend a visa free entry?

No. Visa free is thirty days and cannot be extended. The VOA can be extended once, which is why some travellers choose to buy it even when they do not have to.

What is a calling visa?

An arrangement made in advance with a sponsor, for nationalities not eligible for the VOA. It is assessed case by case, so we quote it individually.

Does my nationality affect a KITAS?

Not materially. The long stay routes are open across all three tiers. Nationality governs how the first thirty days work, not residence.

Three tiers, and yours is fixed

Indonesian entry policy sorts passports into three groups. Which one you are in is not negotiable, and it decides how your trip starts rather than how it ends.

The tier only governs the first thirty days. A KITAS is open to all three, and that is where most long stays actually begin.

Visa free: Thirty days, no fee, and no extension. Leaving is the only way to reset it.
VOA: Thirty days for IDR 500,000, extendable once by thirty more.
Restricted: A calling visa, arranged in advance, with a sponsor and a longer timeline.
Long stay: Above that tier, every nationality uses the same KITAS routes.

Tier one

Visa free on arrival

Thirty days, no fee, and no extension. If you need longer than thirty days, you need a visa before you fly rather than after you land.

Visa free is the least flexible of the three tiers, because it cannot be extended and cannot be converted.

Tier two

Visa on Arrival eligible

Thirty days for IDR 500,000, extendable once by another thirty. Buy it online as an eVOA before you fly and you skip the airport queue.

The VOA extends once. After sixty days the options are leaving, or a visa that was applied for before arrival.

Tier three

Calling visa required

These passports cannot use the VOA. Entry is arranged in advance through a sponsor, assessed case by case, and we do not publish a price because it is not a fixed one.
