B211A vs VOA Bali 2026 — Which Visa Do You Need?
Choose the VOA for short trips: IDR 500,000, 30 days, extendable once to 60. Choose the B211A (visa code C1) for longer or business stays: IDR 1,500,000, 60 days, single entry, extendable in-country, requires a sponsor, and is convertible to a KITAS without leaving Indonesia.

B211A vs VOA — Side-by-Side Comparison
The VOA and the B211A are Bali’s two main short-stay visas, but they suit very different trips. The VOA is the simple tourist option; the B211A is the longer, more flexible visit visa that can become a residence permit.

Figures per Direktorat Jenderal Imigrasi, 2026. The B211A extension count and maximum total stay are set by immigration and are widely misreported online — we confirm the current limit for your case rather than overclaiming. Verify against imigrasi.go.id{rel=”nofollow” target=”_blank”}.
When to Choose the B211A
The B211A (C1) visit visa is the right choice when:
- Your trip is longer than 60 days, or you’re unsure of your exact dates. It starts at 60 days and is extendable in-country — though the precise number of extensions and the total stay it allows are set by immigration, so we confirm the current limit for you rather than printing a number that may be wrong.
- You’re coming for business — meetings, audits, exploring investment — as well as tourism.
- You may want to stay on as a resident. The B211A is convertible to a KITAS onshore through visa conversion (alih status), so you can switch to a Working, Investor, Retirement or other KITAS without leaving Indonesia.
- You have a sponsor. The B211A requires a guarantor/sponsor; as a licensed agency we can arrange sponsorship as part of the service.
Because the B211A can convert to a KITAS, it’s often the smart first step for people who think they may stay long-term but aren’t ready to commit to a residence permit on day one.
When the VOA Is Enough
The VOA or eVOA is the better choice when:
- Your whole trip fits inside 60 days. The VOA gives 30 days and extends once to 60 — perfect for a standard holiday.
- You want the cheapest, simplest option. At IDR 500,000 with no sponsor required, it’s a third of the B211A’s government fee.
- You don’t need to convert to residence. The VOA generally cannot be converted to a KITAS onshore — if a future residence permit is likely, the B211A is the better starting point.
- You want to apply yourself, fast. The eVOA is approved online before you fly; the airport VOA is bought on arrival.

Converting a B211A to a KITAS
One of the B211A’s biggest advantages is the onshore conversion route. If, during your stay, you decide to remain in Bali as a resident, a B211A can be converted to most KITAS types without leaving Indonesia — provided enough validity remains on the visa (commonly around 31+ days) and you have the right sponsor.
This is why the B211A is popular with people testing the waters: arrive on a 60-day visit visa, decide Bali is for you, and convert to a Working KITAS, Investor KITAS or other residence permit — all in-country. The VOA does not offer this path. Our team handles the conversion (alih status) end to end.
Which Should You Choose?
- Holiday, 60 days or less, no plans to stay → VOA / eVOA.
- Longer stay, business, or you might convert to residence → B211A.

Frequently Asked Questions
What’s the difference between a B211A and a VOA?
The VOA is a 30-day tourist visa (IDR 500,000, extendable once to 60 days, no sponsor). The B211A/C1 is a 60-day visit visa (IDR 1,500,000), requires a sponsor, is extendable in-country, and can be converted to a KITAS onshore. The B211A suits longer stays and the residence pathway.
Is the B211A 60 days or longer?
The B211A starts at 60 days and is extendable in-country more than once. However, the exact number of extensions and the maximum total stay are set by immigration and frequently misreported, so we confirm the current limit for your specific case rather than quoting a fixed total.
Can I convert a VOA to a KITAS?
Generally no — the VOA cannot usually be converted to a KITAS onshore. The B211A/C1, by contrast, is convertible to most KITAS types without leaving Indonesia. If you may want to stay long-term, start on a B211A, not a VOA. Confirm the current rule with our team.
Does the B211A need a sponsor?
Yes. The B211A requires a guarantor/sponsor in Indonesia. As a licensed agency, we can provide sponsorship as part of arranging your B211A. The VOA does not require a sponsor.
Which is cheaper, B211A or VOA?
The VOA is cheaper: IDR 500,000 versus IDR 1,500,000 for the B211A government fee. But the B211A gives a longer initial stay (60 vs 30 days), can be extended further, and offers the KITAS conversion route — so “cheaper” depends on your trip length and plans.
