evisa.imigrasi.go.id Not Working? 12 Fixes (2026)
If evisa.imigrasi.go.id is not working, the cause is almost always one of three things: a browser or session glitch, a failed foreign-card payment, or a document upload the portal silently rejects. It is the only official Indonesian e-visa site, so the fix is technical, not a scam. The 12 fixes below solve the vast majority of cases.
Last updated: July 2026 · Verified against official Indonesian immigration sources (evisa.imigrasi.go.id, imigrasi.go.id). Visa and payment rules are YMYL — always confirm on the official portal.
Quick-fix index: 12 things to try right now
Work down this list in order. Most people are back on track by fix 4.
- Use Google Chrome on a laptop, not the in-app browser inside Instagram, Facebook or WhatsApp — those break the payment redirect.
- Clear cache and cookies for evisa.imigrasi.go.id, or open a fresh Incognito window, then log in again.
- Turn off any VPN. A non-Indonesian or rotating IP is a common reason the portal errors or logs you out mid-session.
- Wait 30–60 minutes and retry. The portal has scheduled maintenance and peak-hour overloads; a 500 error or blank page is often server-side, not you.
- Check the email you registered with — including spam and Promotions — for the activation link before assuming the account failed.
- Resize your photo and PDFs to the stated limits before uploading (details below).
- Switch payment card. Try a different Visa/Mastercard, ideally one enabled for international online payments.
- Disable pop-up blockers — the 3-D Secure / OTP window is a pop-up, and a blocker silently kills the payment.
- Do not refresh or hit back during payment; wait for the page to return on its own.
- Screenshot every error with the timestamp — you will need it for a payment dispute or a status query.
- Check your visa status on the portal before paying again, so you do not double-apply.
- Stop and hand it to a licensed agent if a deadline is close — the risk of overstay is not worth another failed attempt.
Account and registration problems (the email never arrives)
The most common complaint is knowing how to create an account on evisa.imigrasi.go.id and then never receiving the activation email. Register with a plain Gmail or Outlook address — corporate and some regional mail servers block the automated message. Check spam, Promotions and Updates tabs, and wait up to an hour; the portal queues emails at busy times.
If it still has not arrived, do not register a second account with the same passport — duplicate profiles cause verification holds. Instead, use the portal’s “resend activation” option, or log in directly, as some accounts activate without the email ever landing. Passwords must usually mix upper case, lower case, a number and a symbol; a silently rejected password is often why “wrong credentials” appears when you are sure they are right.
Photo and document upload errors
Uploads fail for boring, fixable reasons — wrong size, wrong format, or a filename with spaces and special characters. Before you retry:
- Passport bio page: clear colour scan or photo, JPG or PDF, typically under 200 KB–1 MB. Crop out the background so all four corners of the page show.
- Passport photo: plain white background, face centred, no glasses or head covering unless religious, usually JPG under 200 KB.
- Filenames: use simple names like passport.jpg — avoid spaces, brackets, emojis and accented characters.
- One face per photo and no filters; the automated check rejects heavily edited images.
Passport validity is the other silent killer: Indonesia requires at least six months’ validity on the date you enter. If your passport is inside that window the portal may accept the upload but reject the application later, so renew first.
Payment failed or double-charged: what to do
Knowing what to do when your Indonesia e-visa payment failed matters, because the official portal itself warns that transactions can be “suspended or unsuccessful” — usually foreign cards declined by the bank’s fraud filter or a dropped 3-D Secure step.
- First, do not re-pay blindly. Log in and check whether the application already shows as paid or “in process” — a failed screen does not always mean no charge went through.
- If money left your account but the visa shows unpaid, it is almost always a pending authorisation that reverses in 3–14 days, not a real charge. Keep the bank SMS and portal screenshot.
- Enable international online payments in your banking app, then retry with 3-D Secure / OTP ready and pop-ups allowed.
- Try a second card from a different bank; some issuers block Indonesian government merchants by default.
- For a genuine double charge, raise a dispute with your card issuer (or Wise) with the timestamped screenshots as evidence.
The official eVOA fee is IDR 500,000 and the C1 tourist visa fee is IDR 1,500,000 — verified July 2026. If a “portal” asks for a wildly different amount or a bank-transfer to a personal account, you are on a lookalike scam site, not the real one. Our guide to official Bali visa websites vs agents shows how to tell them apart.
“Pending” status: how long an Indonesia visa application really takes
The single most-searched follow-up is how long an Indonesia visa application stays pending. The portal does not publish a guaranteed time, but here are realistic, practice-based ranges seen in mid-2026:
| Visa type | Typical processing (working days) | Apply before travel |
|---|---|---|
| eVOA (electronic visa on arrival) | Often minutes to 1–3 days | At least 3 days out |
| C1 tourist e-visa (ex-B211A) | Around 5, occasionally up to 7–10 | 1–2 weeks out |
| Sponsored / multiple-entry (D-codes) | Roughly 5–10 | 2+ weeks out |
“Payment Verification” clears within a day or two. “Waiting for Verification” is normal for several working days. If you are stuck well beyond these ranges, confirm the exact stage before acting — our application tracking page explains what each status label means. A status frozen for two weeks with no movement usually signals a document flag that needs a human to resolve.
The 2026 portal changes — and is auto-approval coming in 2027?
Immigration has been consolidating everything onto the single evisa.imigrasi.go.id platform through 2026, folding eVOA, visitor visas and stay permits into one login. That is why older bookmarks, saved links and third-party pages sometimes throw errors — they point at retired URLs. Always start from the official domain.
You will also see talk of a fully automated, instant-approval eVOA in 2027. To be honest: as of July 2026 that is not officially announced — it is speculation and vendor marketing, not enacted policy. We label proposals as proposals. Until immigration publishes it on imigrasi.go.id, plan around the processing times above, not around a promised instant approval.
When to stop fighting the portal and use an agent
Doing it yourself is completely fine for a straightforward eVOA — and we will say so plainly. But the portal turns expensive when a deadline is near. A failed application the day before a flight, a passport already inside the six-month window, or a “pending” status that will not clear can all tip you into overstay territory at IDR 1,000,000 per day.
That is where a done-for-you filing earns its premium. As Bali Visa Trusted — an official visa agent since 2015 and a Bali Premium Trip company operated under Juara Holding Group — we file on the same official system, absorb the upload and payment friction, and give you a written USD quote before anything is charged. For a smooth eVOA we handle end-to-end, see our eVOA service; if you are already up against a deadline, our emergency visa help is built for exactly that.
FAQ
Why does evisa.imigrasi.go.id keep logging me out?
Almost always a VPN, an in-app browser, or an expired session. Turn off any VPN, open the site in a normal Chrome or Safari window (not inside Instagram or WhatsApp), clear cookies for the domain, and log in again. Complete the application in one sitting, because the session times out after a period of inactivity.
My Indonesia e-visa payment failed but I was charged — is my money gone?
Usually not. A charge that appears while the visa still shows unpaid is normally a temporary authorisation hold that your bank reverses within 3–14 days. Keep the bank message and a portal screenshot. If a genuine double charge settles, dispute it with your card issuer using those timestamped screenshots as evidence.
How long can an Indonesia visa application stay “pending”?
An eVOA often clears within minutes to three working days; a C1 tourist e-visa usually takes around five, occasionally up to seven to ten. “Waiting for Verification” for several working days is normal. If it is frozen well beyond that with no movement, a document has likely been flagged and needs manual resolution.
Is there a new Indonesia e-visa portal for 2026?
Not a new address — immigration has consolidated eVOA, visitor visas and stay permits onto the same official portal, evisa.imigrasi.go.id, through 2026. Old bookmarks and third-party links pointing at retired pages are a common source of errors. Always begin from the official domain rather than a link someone sent you.
Can I get someone to apply on the portal for me?
Yes. A licensed agent files through the same official immigration system on your behalf, handling the account, uploads and payment so the technical failures never reach you. Bali Visa Trusted has done this as an official agent since 2015, with a written USD quote provided before any charge — no guesswork, no lost payments.
