Chinese citizens are eligible for the Bali Visa on Arrival in 2026, costing IDR 500,000 (~CNY 250) for 30 days, extendable once to 60. Do Chinese Citizens Need a Visa for Bali in 2026?

Yes — Chinese passport-holders need a visa for Bali, and China is one of Indonesia’s largest and fastest-recovering source markets, especially for investment and group travel. Chinese citizens are on the Visa on Arrival (VOA) list. For a holiday you do not need to apply at the Indonesian Embassy in Beijing or a consulate in Shanghai or Guangzhou. You either buy the VOA when you land at Ngurah Rai Airport, or — the smoother route — apply for the eVOA online before flying from Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Shenzhen or Chengdu.

The VOA gives you 30 days from arrival and can be extended once for another 30 days — up to 60 days in Bali. For the typical Chinese trip — a family holiday, a honeymoon, a group tour, or a property-scouting visit — the VOA or eVOA covers everything.

If you plan to stay beyond 60 days — to manage an investment, run a business, or live remotely — you will need a longer visa arranged in advance, covered below. A practical note for Chinese travellers: the official Indonesian immigration portals are in Indonesian and English, not Mandarin, which is the single most common stumbling block — our Mandarin-aware team bridges that gap so nothing is mis-entered.

How Chinese Citizens Apply for the eVOA — Step by Step

We recommend Chinese travellers apply for the eVOA online before departure — it avoids the on-arrival queue and the language barrier at the desk:

  1. Use the official portal only — evisa.imigrasi.go.id. This is the single official Indonesian eVOA website, available in Indonesian and English; many fake “Bali visa” sites target Chinese travellers, so check the URL carefully and ignore third-party agents on social apps. Apply 90 days to 48 hours before departure.
  2. Register and select “Visa on Arrival (B1)”, choosing China as your nationality.
  3. Upload your documents — the bio page of your Chinese passport (valid 6+ months beyond arrival, with a blank page) and a recent passport-style photo, as a clear, full-page colour scan.
  4. Pay IDR 500,000 by Visa, Mastercard or JCB. Important for Chinese applicants: UnionPay and domestic-only cards are not accepted, and Alipay/WeChat Pay cannot be used — you need a dual-currency Visa/Mastercard, or ask us to pay and submit on your behalf.
  5. Receive your eVOA PDF by email — print it and keep a phone copy. Up to five applicants per session suits families and tour groups.
  6. On arrival, use the eVOA lane, complete the All Indonesia Arrival Card, and pay the tourist levy.

If the payment-card or English-only steps are a hassle, our Mandarin-aware team prepares and submits the eVOA for you so it isn’t rejected. Message us.

Best Long-Stay Visa for Chinese Citizens

Chinese long-stayers in Bali are predominantly investors and entrepreneurs, alongside a growing remote-work group — so the long-stay choice usually comes down to:

  • Investing in or running a business in Indonesia? Many Chinese nationals set up a PT PMA foreign-owned company and obtain an Investor KITAS E28A as Director or Commissioner. This is the most common Chinese long-stay route, given strong China–Bali investment in hospitality, property and trade.
  • Working remotely for an overseas employer? The Digital Nomad Visa E33G gives one year if you earn USD 60,000+/year and hold an overseas employment contract. It is not renewable — you exit and re-apply to continue.
  • Settling for years at any age, or buying property? The Second Home Visa E33 requires an IDR 2 billion (~CNY 1.0 million) deposit in a state bank within 90 days of arrival, or qualifying property — no employment requirement, no upper age limit. It is increasingly popular with Chinese buyers who want long residency without running a company.

Some Chinese clients begin on a B211A and then convert to a KITAS onshore. We will explain the cheapest legal route, with figures in yuan.

Chinese Passport — What You Need at Ngurah Rai Airport

Arriving in Bali on a Chinese passport, you should have:

  • Passport validity: at least 6 months beyond arrival, with a blank page.
  • Your visa: VOA on arrival or, better, a pre-approved eVOA.
  • All Indonesia Arrival Card (AIDC): free, completed at allindonesia.imigrasi.go.id within 3 days before arrival. The form is in Indonesian/English only — complete it carefully or have us check it.
  • Bali Tourist Levy: IDR 150,000 (~CNY 75) per person, via the Love Bali app or on arrival.
  • Confirmed return/onward ticket and accommodation booking.
  • Proof of funds: be ready to evidence around USD 2,000 (~CNY 14,400) and roughly three months of bank statements.

The authoritative source is Indonesian immigration at imigrasi.go.id — follow the Indonesian rule over third-party advice circulating on Chinese travel apps, which is often outdated.

FAQ — Bali Visa for Chinese Citizens

Q1: Can I pay the Bali eVOA with UnionPay, Alipay or WeChat Pay?
No. The official portal evisa.imigrasi.go.id accepts only Visa, Mastercard and JCB — UnionPay (unless dual-branded), Alipay and WeChat Pay are not accepted. Use a dual-currency Visa/Mastercard for the IDR 500,000 (~CNY 250) charge, or ask us to pay and submit on your behalf.

Q2: Is the Bali visa application available in Mandarin?
No. The official Indonesian portals (eVOA and the Arrival Card) are in Indonesian and English only, with no Mandarin version. This is the most common reason Chinese applications contain errors. Our team is Mandarin-aware and completes every field correctly so your application isn’t rejected.

Q3: Is Bali visa-free for Chinese citizens in 2026?
No. Chinese nationals are not on the visa-free list, but they are VOA-eligible: IDR 500,000 (~CNY 250) for 30 days, extendable once to 60. There’s no need to visit an Indonesian consulate in China for a normal holiday.

Q4: What is the best Bali visa for a Chinese investor?
Most Chinese investors set up a PT PMA company and hold an Investor KITAS E28A (1–2 years). If you want long residency without operating a company, the Second Home Visa E33 (5–10 years, IDR 2 billion deposit) is the alternative. We advise on which fits your structure.

Q5: How long can Chinese citizens stay in Bali?
On the VOA/eVOA, up to 60 days (30 + one 30-day extension). For longer, use a B211A, an Investor KITAS, or the Second Home Visa (5–10 years).
