Do Belgians Need a Visa for Bali in 2026?
Yes — Belgian passport-holders need a visa for Bali, but the standard route is simple. Belgian citizens are on the Visa on Arrival (VOA) list, so for a normal holiday you do not need to apply in advance at the Indonesian Embassy in Brussels. You buy the VOA on arrival at Ngurah Rai (Denpasar) Airport, or — far more reliably — apply for the eVOA (visum / visa) online before you fly.
The VOA grants 30 days from arrival and can be extended once for a further 30 days — a maximum of 60 days in Bali. For a holiday or a first scouting trip, the VOA or eVOA is enough.
A point worth knowing for Belgians: although Belgium is a founding EU member and uses the euro, that has no bearing on Indonesian entry — Indonesia treats Belgium as an individual VOA-eligible country, not as part of the EU bloc. The convenience is that we can quote you cleanly in euros. Belgium has a long historical and economic connection with Indonesia, and Bali draws Belgian holidaymakers, remote workers and retirees alike. The long-stay visas below apply for those who settle.

How Belgians Apply for the eVOA — Step by Step
We recommend Belgian travellers apply for the eVOA online before departure so the airport process is fast and your stay is extendable:
- Use the official portal only — evisa.imigrasi.go.id. This is the sole official Indonesian eVOA site; check the URL carefully to avoid scam copies (Dutch- and French-language fakes exist). Apply 90 days to 48 hours before departure.
- Register and select “Visa on Arrival (B1)”, choosing Belgium as your nationality.
- Upload your documents — the bio page of your Belgian passport, valid 6+ months beyond arrival with a blank page, plus a passport-style photo.
- Pay IDR 500,000 by Visa, Mastercard or JCB. Your Belgian card is charged the euro equivalent (about €32) at your bank’s rate; tell your bank you’ll transact internationally so it isn’t blocked.
- Receive the eVOA PDF by email — print it and keep a phone copy. Up to five applicants per session, useful for families.
- On arrival, use the eVOA lane, complete the All Indonesia Arrival Card, and pay the tourist levy.
If your card is declined or you’d rather not deal with it, message us and we’ll prepare or submit the eVOA for you, in Dutch, French or English.
Best Long-Stay Visa for Belgians
Belgians who base in Bali range from remote professionals and entrepreneurs to retirees and lifestyle residents drawn by the climate and the value relative to Belgium. The long-stay choice usually comes down to:
- Working remotely for an overseas employer? The Digital Nomad Visa E33G gives one year if you earn USD 60,000+/year and hold an overseas employment contract. It is not renewable — you exit and re-apply to continue.
- Retiring in Bali? The Retirement KITAS E33F suits Belgians aged 55+ with around USD 3,000/month income, health insurance and a Bali rental — a popular route given Belgian and EU pension levels.
- Coming and going from Europe? A Multiple-Entry visa (D1/D2) — valid 1, 2 or 5 years with up to 60 days per entry — suits Belgians splitting time between Bali and home.
- Settling for years at any age, or buying property? The Second Home Visa E33 requires an IDR 2 billion (~USD 130,000) deposit in a state bank within 90 days of arrival, or qualifying property — no employment requirement, no upper age limit.
Many Belgians start on a B211A and convert to a KITAS onshore. We’ll map the cleanest legal path, in euros.
Belgian Passport — What You Need at Ngurah Rai Airport

- Passport validity: at least 6 months beyond arrival, with a blank page.
- Your visa: VOA on arrival or a pre-approved eVOA.
- All Indonesia Arrival Card (AIDC): free, at allindonesia.imigrasi.go.id within 3 days before arrival.
- Bali Tourist Levy: IDR 150,000 (~EUR 10) per person.
- Onward/return ticket and accommodation booking.
- Proof of funds: be ready to show around USD 2,000 equivalent and roughly three months of bank statements.

FAQ — Bali Visa for Belgians
Q1: Is Bali visa-free for Belgian citizens in 2026?
No. Belgium is not on Indonesia’s visa-free list, but Belgians are VOA-eligible: IDR 500,000 (~€32 / USD 35) for 30 days, extendable once to 60. EU membership and the euro don’t apply here — Indonesia treats Belgium individually. Apply for the eVOA online or buy the VOA on arrival.
Q2: Does using the euro make the visa cheaper or different for Belgians?
No — the visa fee is fixed in rupiah (IDR 500,000) regardless of your currency. Using the euro simply means we can quote you cleanly at about €32, and your bank converts at its own rate. There’s no EU discount or special arrangement with Indonesia.
Q3: Can I pay the eVOA with my Belgian bank card?
Usually yes — the official portal accepts Visa, Mastercard and JCB, charged in euros at your bank’s rate. Notify your bank about international use so it isn’t flagged. If the payment fails, message us and we can submit and pay the eVOA for you.
Q4: How long can Belgian citizens stay in Bali?
On the VOA/eVOA, up to 60 days (30 + one 30-day extension). For longer, use a B211A, a Multiple-Entry D1, a KITAS, or the Second Home Visa.
Q5: Can Belgians work remotely from Bali legally?
Only on the right visa. The VOA and B211A prohibit work, and enforcement is active in 2026. Belgian remote workers earning USD 60,000+/year need the Digital Nomad Visa E33G. Read the 2026 rules →.

“I assumed my EU passport and euros meant some special deal for Bali. Juara Holding Group explained Indonesia treats every country individually, sorted my eVOA, and later my Retirement KITAS — everything quoted in euros, and they answered me in French.” — Sophie D., Sanur (from Brussels), Belgium ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
