New for 2026: the All Indonesia Arrival Card is mandatory. Complete it before you fly. How to complete it
Residence permit E23
The E23 lets you work for a sponsoring Indonesian company. It needs an approved RPTKA, an IMTA work permit, and a USD 1,200 a year manpower levy.
Figures verified against imigrasi.go.id, Direktorat Jenderal Imigrasi. Current for 2026.

This is the permit for a job. An Indonesian company sponsors you, and the Ministry of Manpower approves the position before immigration approves you.
Eight to twelve weeks is normal, because two ministries are involved rather than one. Anyone quoting two weeks is describing a different permit.
No sponsor? See the E33GPeople with an offer from an Indonesian company, and companies that need to hire from abroad.

Roles the RPTKA can justify to the Ministry of Manpower.
Where the role is employment rather than shareholding.
Positions requiring expertise a local hire cannot yet fill.
Two approvals, in order. Manpower first, then immigration.
The employer carries most of this. If a prospective employer expects you to arrange the RPTKA yourself, that is a signal about the employer rather than about the process.
All in, government fees included. Requirements set by regulation, such as deposits and shareholdings, sit outside this and are yours to hold.
Our figure covers the filing, the document work and the government fees we pay. The DPKK levy is a separate employer obligation.
Six steps, and the first two belong to your employer.
The position has to be one the RPTKA can justify.
The manpower plan goes to the Ministry of Manpower first.
The work permit follows the approved plan.
Immigration comes after manpower, never before.
One in-person appointment.
One year, then annual renewal while the role continues.
Both let you work. Only one of them lets you work here.
If an Indonesian entity pays you, it is the E23 and there is no shortcut around the RPTKA.

Almost always upstream of immigration.
Eight to twelve weeks is normal. The RPTKA and IMTA sit ahead of the KITAS, and no agent moves that queue.

PT PMA setupA common and expensive mistake. Until the IMTA and KITAS exist, the work is illegal, whatever the contract says.
